  1. 1* Illinois -8 #616 6:00

We overcame a 19 point spurt in the first 11 minutes of the second half by Frankie Hughes last night and got the cover. He disappeared in the last nine minutes though when the game was on the line. Good for us. Tonight, undefeated Minnesota comes to Champaign to battle Illinois. Look, Minnesota has beaten a bottom tier ACC team in Boston College, that’s it. Illinois has played Baylor, Duke and Missouri. First conference game and Coach Underwood is not happy with his team after the Mizzou loss. A big double digit win for Illinois tonight.

  2. 1* Nevada -3 #819 8:00

Ohio let us down as they had their worst shooting day so far and couldn’t stay close. It’s a simple game, you just have to find ways to get the ball in the basket. Nevada is nowhere close to the team they had last year but Steve Alford has his team playing competitively already beating North Dakota State, Nebraska and Pacific while losing to San Fran and Grand canyon in their last game. San Diego has only played one game losing to UCLA by 27. I think Nevada is much further along and I expect them to win at San Diego tonight. Frankie Hughes, the former Mizzou (he shot 168 threes and only made 45, 26%) and Duquense guard now plays for San Diego. He wasn’t a team player for either of those teams and hopefully he won’t play well tonight. In the marquis game of the night Creighton -8 hosts Marquette. This should be a high scoring affair, I took the over 148 this morning and it is up to 152 now. Creighton should put up 80 or more.

  3. 1* Ohio +3 #761 1:00

This Ohio team is special and still has something to prove and what better team to do it against than Marshall, a former MAC team. Marshall is good and we took them last week but they are a run and gun team. Ohio is disciplined and play great team basketball. Their style should prevail here in a high scoring affair. Ohio wins 84-77.

  4. 1* Detroit pick #671 1:00

This Detroit team lost to Michigan State by 7 and Notre Dame by 8. They should be able to handle a bad Western Michigan team even on the road.

  5. 1* UCLA -4 #638 8:30

Marquette has been enjoying life at home winning 4 of 5 games including their big win over Wisconsin. Now they go across the country to face a deep UCLA team who is starting to play well and should continue to mesh with a bunch of talent. I think we are getting value here at only 4 points.

  6. 1* Marshall -6 #619 6:00

Don’t take many road favorites but I like Marshall here and like the fact that the line has creeped up from 5. They score a lot and returned everyone from last here. Already have an impressive win at Wright State so being on the road is no big deal. Charleston wasn’t very good last year and has lost to Furman by 24 already this year. . They have a bunch of new faces and are trying to find their way. Marshall should get the double digit win here. Mizzou may be looking ahead to Illinois instead of tonight’s game and Liberty has beaten Mississippi State by 11 and South Carolina by 16. Money line maybe, but -9.5 is a little too much. Hope I’m wrong. In the late action, Pepperdine looks appealing at home against Cal.
